Official methodology to test criterion 11.5

Test 1 (11.5)

iOS and Android
  1. Identify cryptic content on the screen (ascii art, emoticons, cryptic syntax).
  2. Check that a definition is available in the adjacent context (immediately before or after the cryptic content, in the adjacent text or via the activation of a user interface component).
  3. If not, activate the screen reader.
  4. Navigate to the cryptic content and check that an alternative is rendered.
  5. If this is the case, the criterion is validated.
