Official methodology to test criterion 8.6

Test 1 (8.6)

iOS and Android
  1. Identify information on the screen given by shape, size or location in a text, graphic element, time-based or non-time-based media. This can be an icon positioned to the left of a component to indicate that it is active, or an instruction on the screen to activate a component positioned at a certain point on the screen.
  2. Check that there is another way of retrieving this information from the screen (for example, a text that everyone can read and that gives the same information).
  3. If this is not the case, activate the screen reader and check that information other than the shape, size or location is rendered by the screen reader.
  4. If this is the case, the criterion is validated.
