8.7 On each screen, is the additional content that appears when the focus is set or when a user interface component is hovered over controllable by the user (excluding special cases)?

Official methodology to test criterion 8.7

Test 1 (8.7)

iOS
  1. Connect an external keyboard (and configure keyboard navigation).
  2. Browse the screen and locate the additional content that appears when focusing a user interface component.
  3. Check that the additional content can be hidden using a keyboard key (the ESC key, for example).
  4. Check that the additional content remains visible
    • until the focus is moved away from the user interface component and the additional content;
    • or as long as the focus is positioned on the user interface component or in the additional content;
    • or as long as the additional content is valid.
  5. Connect a mouse.
  6. Scan the screen with the mouse and locate the additional content that appears when a user interface component is hovered over.
  7. Check that the additional content can be hovered over with the mouse.
  8. Check that the additional content remains visible
    • until the mouse pointer is moved away from the user interface component and the additional content;
    • or as long as the mouse pointer hovers over the user interface component or the additional content;
    • or as long as the additional content is valid.
  9. If this is the case, the criterion is validated.
Android
  1. Connect an external keyboard (and configure keyboard navigation).
  2. Browse the screen and locate the additional content that appears when focusing a user interface component.
  3. Check that the additional content can be hidden by a key on the keyboard (generally the key or combination of keys that will have been associated in Switch Access for the Return parameter)
  4. Check that the additional content remains visible
    • until the focus is moved away from the user interface component and the additional content;
    • or as long as the focus is positioned on the user interface component or in the additional content;
    • or as long as the additional content is valid.
  5. Connect a mouse.
  6. Scan the screen with the mouse and locate the additional content that appears when a user interface component is hovered over.
  7. Check that the additional content can be hovered over with the mouse.
  8. Check that the additional content remains visible
    • until the mouse pointer is moved away from the user interface component and the additional content;
    • or as long as the mouse pointer hovers over the user interface component or the additional content;
    • or as long as the additional content is valid.
  9. If this is the case, the criterion is validated.
