Generate and publish an accessibility statement from an audit.
Goal
Produce a publishable accessibility statement reflecting the audit's findings.
Preconditions
- The audit's criteria have been evaluated for at least the most recent samples.
- Failures and "Not auditable" verdicts have problem and solution text. See methodology / finding quality.
- A statement template is selected for the workspace (built-in or custom).
Steps
- Open the audit and go to the Statement tab.
- CheckFox pre-fills the statement from the audit data using the active template.
- Review and edit each section:
- Service identification
- Scope (audit boundaries, what was and was not evaluated)
- Conformance status (auto-computed; can be adjusted with justification)
- Known limitations (drawn from failures)
- Audit date and next review date
- Contact and enforcement procedure
- Click Save draft.
- When ready, click Publish to mark the statement as the current public version.
Verify success
- The statement preview matches what will be published.
- All required sections are present and non-empty.
- The next review date is set to a realistic future date (commonly 12 months out).
Common pitfalls
- Empty issues section. Even a fully conformant audit should mention scope limitations and known exceptions.
- Missing contact and enforcement sections. These are legally required.
- Forgetting to update the statement after the next audit. Set a calendar reminder for the next review date.
